We are on Facebook!

Search for "K&L Arena" and click "like" to receive updates.  It's especially helpful during the winter if we have to close due to weather issues.

First Touch Sports + First Touch Soccer + Team Registrations = BUSY

September 28, 2010

All files mentioned below are available on our website or via link from our website:

1.  Emergency liability and medial release waiver.  Each player and coach needs to have a new one filled out.  The ones we currently have on file will expire on 10/31/10.  Please submit an updated waiver well before your first game to avoid delays.  You may fax completed forms to 217/228-0961.  If you are a new player, you can still submit the form early, which gives us a chance to get your information in the system before you come to get your participant's card made.  Dates and times that we are making the cards will be announced via email as well as on the webpage as the session gets closer.

2.  First Touch Sports registration.  This is something new this year, sponsored by Riverfront Athletic Association.  This session we are opening it up to 3-5 year olds (not yet in Kindergarten).  Children will be divided into small groups and will get the chance to "try out" four different sports.  We'll give them experiences in soccer, volleyball, flag football, and taekwondo, all here at K&L Arena.  Each group will spend no more than 30...

Team Registration forms are available!

September 21, 2010

The time is here:  Team Registration form for Fall 2010 is attached.  Team registration deadline is 10/12/10.

A few notes for this upcoming session:
  • We will schedule 7 games per team this session, with the intent of being done with the session before Christmas.  However, there might be a few after the holiday, and that becomes more likely if we have severe weather issues and need to reschedule.
  • Team fees have been adjusted accordingly.  Please see the registration form for specifics.
  • In the winter session, we will go back to 8 games per team.
  • We are going to attempt more regularity in terms of scheduling specific divisions.  Please see tentative schedule below, but know that there are no guarantees.  We will do what we can.

Again, we will do our best to adhere to these days.  However, the schedule depends largely on number of teams registered, and how the divisions balance.  It is impossible to predict how many teams we will have, nor how the schedule will be impacted by those numbers.  We will attempt to keep to this schedule, but there may be some variance.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Open Registration, Facebook, Registration Dates, and Message Board

August 31, 2010

Just a reminder that we are now on Facebook, if you like to use that to keep up with things.  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Quincy-IL/KL-Arena/111086445568962#!/pages/Quincy-IL/KL-Arena/111086445568962

Upcoming dates for the next year are posted here:  http://www.klarenaquincy.com/index.php

For those of you who have Kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade children WITHOUT AN ESTABLISHED TEAM, an open registration form can be found here:  http://www.klarenaquincy.com/user_files/8/0/openregistrationk12-2010.pdf    I will place the children into groups for teams, then turn it back over to you as parents to submit the team for registration.  The sooner I have the forms, the better the chances I can place your child.

Preschool aged kids, ages 3-5 (not yet in Kindergarten) -- we do take individual registrations at this level.  Those forms are not yet available, but will be sent out as email attachment towards the end of September.  They will also be available for download at that time.

Regarding the message board and individuals looking for teams.... I often have people tell me "I posted on the message board, but no one ever called me."  Unfortunately, it's rarely that simple.  The message board is a place to connect with others who either might be in the same situation (individuals) or someone who...

Pepsi Refresh Grant

June 1, 2010

Please help Riverfront Athletics by voting here:

http://www.refresheverything.com/grassrootstogoldmedals

It's not just about volleyball in Quincy; it's about athletics in the tri-state region.  With this grant, we could become an athletic complex, both indoor and out.  Your vote counts EVERY DAY in the month of June.

 Thank you.

Summer News

June 1, 2010

Our Taraflex courts are somewhere between here and France.  Half are on a boat, somewhere on the ocean.  The other half are on a plane waiting for that volcanic ash to dissipate enough to take off.  <sigh>  But they'll be here soon.

The floor preparation begins today, so we'll be ready to install them as soon as they arrive and become acclimated to the building's atmosphere.

We're busy here this week:  the soccer field annual maintenance starts today, as well.  They'll groom the turf, spread more rubber fill if necessary, and apply the bacterial shield.

Spring Session 2010

March 16, 2010

We've had enough interest for a Spring Session, but not enough interest to open it up to all divisions.  We'll be offering men's competitive/open and girls 4th/5th/6th grade.

The men will play on Wednesdays beginning on 4/7/10.  Game times will be 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30.  Which means we have to limit the number of teams to the first 8 who register.

Girls will play on Thursday evenings beginning on 4/8, with game times of 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30.  I really think that having an 8:30 game is too late for this age, so we have to limit this division to the first 6 teams.

The registration form will be emailed shortly to those who expressed an interest, or you may download it from here:

http://www.klarenaquincy.com/downloads.php

Unfortunately, we may have to turn some teams away due to space issues -- PLEASE do not delay if your team wants a spot.  The first 8 men's teams and the first 6 girls' teams that have completed registration forms and fees turned in will get the spots.

11/3/09 indoor soccer update

November 3, 2009

Lots to cover this week:

1.  Number of players on the field:  On the small field, 4+keeper.  Big field:  U12 and down plays 6+keeper.  U13 and up plays 5+keeper.

2.  General facility regulations:  Please walk.  Please CARRY soccer balls.  We also ask that everyone stay out of gated areas for your safety.

3.  Family pass:  The form is attached, if you would like to have it filled out before you come.  The fee is $20 this year, but is still good for both sessions, through the end of March.  If you decide not to do the Family Pass, the spectator fee is $1/person.  As always, players and coaches are not charged when you come to play/coach.

4.  Schedules:  All schedules are online.  You may print a team-specific schedule, or print a division-specific schedule.  Go to www.klquincy.com and follow the links through to the indoor soccer pages.  From the menu across the top, choose "Events," then "Schedule/Results."  Be sure the "Season" field reads "Session 1, Fall 2009."  (You may have to empty your cache to prevent your computer from defaulting to a previous session.)  You may choose a Conference, or leave it set to All.  You may...

10/20/09 indoor soccer update

October 20, 2009

Team registrations are closed.  Please be patient while we work on the schedules.

We are still taking registrations for the First Touch program, which is for children 3-5 years old, not yet in Kindergarten.  You may download the form from our website.  The facility will be closed 10/23-25, so if you have paperwork to turn in, please use our drop box.  There is a mail slot in the door on the south side (soccer side) of the building, right next to the green fencing.

There are still some times available for practices, but the schedule is starting to fill up.  If you are interested in booking a time, please call or email for best availability.

This week, we are making cards at the following times:  Tues., 10/20, 5:30-6:30 and Wed., 10/21, 5-7 p.m.  REMINDER:  if you already have a card, we only need a new waiver form from you.  Feel free to drop it by or fax to 217/228-0961.  REMINDER TO COACHES:  please make plans to compile your team's cards during any of our card times.  Or, you may wait until we begin games; then, you're welcome to put them together during any of our open hours.
